A Modern Traditional Wedding

Happy Easter weekend lovelies. Before you head off for good Friday festivities let me share this modern traditional wedding. I first saw this wedding on Instagram via Creative Brides account. Zaza’s dress struck me by how beautifully designed it looked and thought to myself she looked Bontlefied (made up so don’t look it up in the dictionary). Honestly, I have to applaud Felicia Mensah (the designer) for doing such a good job.

After a long, long wait and a long-lost love, Zaza and her husband found their way back to each other. Here’s their story; heartfelt beautiful moments at the wedding and a heartbreaking realisation at the end. Zaza may God give you double for what you’ve lost my darling.A Modern Traditional Wedding

The Love Story
We were staying in the same building called Drakensberg flats, Pretoria. We met at the gate when I was coming back from school, he greeted me, and that was it. A year later he left the country to go to the UK. He promised to come back after 6 months and I must wait for him. I waited the whole 6 months he never came back. I waited another six months but he never came back, so I moved on with my life. We met again after a few years and he still felt the same, 3 months after, he said to me, I am not going to let you go again. He paid Lobola.A Modern Traditional WeddingA Modern Traditional Wedding

The Proposal
It was nothing fancy, just after he paid lobola he bought a ring.A Modern Traditional Wedding

The Planning Process
We planned the wedding in 2 months, I was my own wedding planner, and it was not difficult for me as I do events. What a great journey for me.

The Suppliers
My deco was done by nono events, matrimonial set up was done by foster creation.A Modern Traditional Wedding

Favourite Moment
When I was walking down the aisle, my husband couldn’t wait he was calling me with his hands.A Modern Traditional Wedding

The Wedding Style
Unique not too much of tradition but modernised, I am my own style and very creative.A Modern Traditional Wedding

The Dress
I knew exactly what I wanted, I just combined from different dresses to get what I want. The person that made it, I trust her.A Modern Traditional Wedding

There is no formula for marriage, what works for me might not work for you. Put God first in everything you do. Compliment each other.

What are you looking forward to in married life?
Looking forward to having more and more babies, last year we lost a 4-year-old beautiful boy, he drowned in the pool so; ya. Only God knows.
Bontle: I’m so sorry Zaza, may the Lord heal and give you beauty for ashes. Wishing you and your family tremendous blessings.
