A Perfect Ndebele/Zulu Wedding

Morning Precious One!
I have this gorgeous Ndebele/Zulu wedding to share with you today. I can’t get over how romantic the proposal is. Hey, men of this generation are taking it up a notch. Gone are the days when a proposal letter was all they did. Sisters look out the brothers get it now.

This wedding reminds me of home. If there’s one thing I miss most is the atmosphere at weddings and the joy felt by not only the couple but the community around them. Judging from the pictures at this wedding, I think it is safe to say, IT WAS LIT LANA. ENJOY

The Love Story
We met at the University of Johannesburg in 2010 while studying. I was studying towards a Masters degree and he was doing his BSc. A friend introduced us and we fell in love.Ndebele/Zulu Wedding

The Proposal
He proposed at the beautiful Westcliff Four Seasons in Johannesburg. He told me there was an event happening there and I was to meet him at the venue. When I arrived, he welcomed me with a beautiful teddy and he took me to a beautiful rose garden. There was an arch decorated with flowers and candles. There were also boards with messages about what he wants us to be. Holding a beautiful diamond on hand, he went on one knee and asked me to be his wife. After I said yes, he took me for dinner at one of the restaurants before we went to a beautiful Suite at the hotel which had roses all around, champagne and chocolates.Ndebele/Zulu Wedding

Lobola
It was the normal traditional process. His family wrote a letter of intent to my family. My family accepted it and they set a date for lobola. On September 24, they met and lobola was paid.Ndebele/Zulu Wedding

The Planning
It was actually very exciting. I planned everything myself and had a lot of fun doing it.Ndebele/Zulu Wedding

Marriage is such a big deal, at what point did you know you were ready?
Haha, sometimes I still think I am not ready. I don’t think you can ever be truly ready for it. You just have to be truly in love with someone and willing to go the extra mile with them. This person has to be your best friend. If you are ready to love unconditionally, you are ready for anything.Ndebele/Zulu Wedding

The Suppliers
My wedding decor was done by @4Squared_events, I found them on Facebook. The owner, Nosizo was incredible. She did everything I asked for and more. She hadn’t done a Ndebele themed wedding before but she thought out of the box and always listened well. She is such a blessing to me. She is proof that there are good black service providers out there.

My make-up was done by @esmangena who is also my sister. She is a self-taught makeup artist and she does better than people who went to school for it.

Our outfits were made by @hauteafrika I gave them a goal which wasn’t easy to do but they worked around the clock to make our outfits a dream.Ndebele/Zulu Wedding
