If you’re one of those brides who just loves everything unique then you’ll appreciate this awesome playful engagement session. From Oh happy Day and The Shank Tank, this brilliantly styled, playful engagement session is sure to make your Wednesday a little bit brighter. Seeing it for the first time was as if I’d been hit by a welcomed explosion of colour. I hope it inspires you to try something unique, different and maybe a little crazy if you’re planning on having an engagement session.
Jacqui and Keegan are the luckiest couple I’ve ever featured. Not only did they win this engagement session they won their entire wedding to be held at Kearsney Monor courtesy of La Lucia Mall Bridal Fair later this year. I can only image how fun their wedding will be; hopefully we will get to see it.
The Creatives Behind The Shoot
Joelene from Oh Happy Day says:
”I really enjoyed conceptualising this shoot. As the stylist, it’s my job to find out more about Jacqui and Keegan as a couple and design a shoot that best reflects their love story. One thing is clear when you meet them for the first time – they are not your ordinary couple! Jacqui and Keegan wanted something fun and bright, quirky and very unique. Shying away from your typical mainstream engagement shoot ideas, we went with something totally different.
The concept of only using colour and urban backgrounds was born by wanting a very interactive shoot that not only best suited the couple, but also highlighted Durban in winter. I sourced the materials for the shoot (namely, brightly coloured dye powders and street chalk, and good old cream soda) and The Shank Tank cruised around the city of Durban and found the most awesome graffiti-inspired locations. I love working with Stacey from The Shank Tank, because she’s always up for my crazy ideas and we share the same creative passion for the wedding industry.”
Behind the lens: Stace from The Shank Tank:
“We wanted a location that hadn’t been overdone and that would represent this couples personalities and flair. We found some really cool graffiti near Florida Road in Durban and we immediately knew that this was our perfect location. We had such a fun time on this shoot, decorating the streets of Durban with colour and coolness. Jacqueline and Keegan were dream clients; they were seriously up for anything! Including throwing powder paint at each other and spraying each other with bright coloured soft drinks…The things we do to get the perfect shot! Its also always such a pleasure to work with a shoot stylist, and Jo’s creativity and passion really shine through in her work.”
Jacqueline and Keegan had been dating for 7 years before Keegan proposed on their anniversary in Cape Town. When asked why every couple should have an engagement shoot, Jacqueline says: “It’s a chance for the public to get to see the couple in a more romantic set up. It’s also a chance for us to feel comfortable with each other in front of the camera. We felt like real celebrities! We loved the originality of our shoot and can’t wait to use the images for our Save The Dates.”
A Big Thank You to Joelene and Stace for sharing their work with us. Jacqueline and Keegan, you guys are AWESOME, have a beautiful wedding day and a blessed marriage.
