Morning Precious! I trust your weekend was a blast. If you’re feeling the Monday blues this morning don’t worry I have this breathtaking wedding just for you. If I were to describe it in one word it’d be ELEGANCE. Carefully planned over twelve months, this elegant Pretoria wedding gives me goose bumps. I had so many images to choose from however I choose one’s that I know will inspire and maybe ideas you’ll steal for your own big day. So without wasting time; here’s the scoop on how this masterpiece was planned. Written and submitted by Tiiesetso the bride
The Proposal Story
Vuyo asked me to take “half day’s leave ” so I could accompany him to a friend’s wedding in Magaliesburg. I took the day off and even bought myself a new pair of shoes for the wedding. We got to Mount Grace, checked in and I started getting ready for the wedding. When I got out of the shower Vuyo was sitting on the couch reading one of the hotel magazines and as I got closer to him I noticed a small wrapped box on the table.
I was chatting away and reminding him we were running late. He tells me that he had bought me a pair of earrings for the wedding. I started unwrapping the box and then he stood up took the box and told me I was unwrapping rather slowly. He opens the box and to my surprise there were no earrings in the box, it’s actually a diamond ring. Then he tells there is actually no wedding and he actually brought out there to propose, I was very surprised, cried and of course said Yes. Then we had dinner in the cellar of the hotel. We woke up the next day and got ready to tell the world. My poor “new” fiancee did not see me for another 3 days…oops!
The Planning Process
I found the planning pretty easy. I had just over a year to plan the whole wedding. We had some help from family but mostly we did it ourselves. We did the website, went to all the wedding expos and chose the deco together. We are also both doing our Masters and the planning actually turned into quality time.
Supplier Selection
The moment I went to the venue I knew it was perfect. The venue is Red Ivory Lodge, its in haarties and has the most amazing views. Once we had the venue I felt it all became real. Pastels and pastels did our deco and I had used them to print T-shirts for my sisters wedding. When I was collecting the shirts I met Will who told me about his wife who did wedding decorations and I just liked the items they had. They did vintage and rustic weddings and they suited my venue perfectly. They also had very different ideas and a young energy.
One Thing I’d Change
We had a picnic styled cocktail hour planned but the moment I stepped in the chapel it started raining. So we didn’t get the picnic hour because the guests needed shelter from the rain. So would probably change the weather for that hour. But in my culture rain means blessing…so I guess its okay.
Hint of culture
Well we did the traditional father walking me down the aisle and father daughter dance. We are having another Traditional wedding in October. This wedding was just about us and having fun with our family and friends.
Advice
I would definitely advice couples to have a sit down with their parents about what they are planning, their budget and guest counts so that everyone is on the same page from day one. This will limit pressure and feeling you are going against your parents.
