A Royalty Kimberley Wedding

It’s Monday morning and that can only mean one thing on the blog; another gorgeous Kimberley wedding to inspire you. I have to say, I feature the most talented of brides. Nicolene, our ridiculously stylish bride made all her bridesmaids dresses. Although, it’s not a surprise because she’s a fashion design graduate. She describes the vision for her Kimberley wedding as fairytale and royalty. And I couldn’t agree more. Nicolene and  her planner(Lebo) produced such a gorgeous wedding for us to lust after. ENJOY!kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

The Proposal Story
He planned a surprise picnic on a holiday we had gone on in the Drakensberg… A blanket covered in rose petals with lots of treats and champagne. Unrepentantly he got down on his knee and opened a box saying how he couldn’t spend the rest of his life without me. It’s the first and last thing time I’d seen him nervous about something. It took me by surprise. What made the engagement so special was the ring he had made and had specially designed for me with a special yellow diamond he had saved over the years just for this occasion. The ring is a constant reminder of his love for me… The time he spent and careful thought that went into it.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

The Dress
I’ve been in love with Elie Saab for as long as I can remember, so choosing the dress was easy. I’ve also had a favourite dress since high school. I was so happy to find out that 2years prior to getting married a pronovias store was opening up at the Michael Angelo towers in Johannesburg. I went to try on a few of his dresses but to my disappointment they did not have the exact one I wanted so opted for a friend of mine to make it for me, Elli –Nicole who was a wedding dress designer as well and really great in the craft. The dress was amazing…
It had my niece in tears, who was the only one who came to one of my fittings. I didn’t cry until the day of the wedding. I think the reality of me getting married had not set in yet.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

The Planning Process
The process I think for any bride comes with a bit of stress and takes a lot of thought. I’ve been planning my wedding since I was in high school. I’ve always had a basic vision for what I wanted. Also being a design graduate helped me put together a mood board that made implementing all the ideas a lot easier for everyone. I’m not as extravagant as my husband, so less has always been more in my eyes but because we have the same sense of taste, the process had gone quite smoothly…kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

The Creative’/ Supplier Selection
My wedding planner was an angel and dream come true. She made our vision come alive and actually exceeded all our expectations. She thinks of everything and makes the impossible possible.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

One Thing I’d Change
Sleep better the night before. I was so nervous and ended up being so exhausted on the day of our wedding.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blogA Royalty Kimberley Wedding

Although my husband’s Pedi, He’s a modern man so wasn’t for a traditional wedding. Looking back I think we should’ve had a small traditional ceremony before the bid day. I always think heritage is important and enjoyable to celebrate.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

Most Memorable Moment
Our first dance. I really felt like we were in our own world with no one else there but us. We enjoyed each other so much in that moment.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

Biggest Investment
I think our photographer. Investing in a good photographer is one of the best things you can do for yourself. The pictures we have of our day are amazing and will last forever. I Saved on my bridesmaid’s dresses. I opted to make them myself.kimberley wedding | South African wedding blog

Firstly pray. It’s not about the size of the wedding or the amount of money you spend. Yes, weddings tend to be expensive but focus on what makes you and your partner happy and not what makes your parents or friends happy. The day is about the 2 of you and your commitment before God. So make sure you are in agreement with each other and with God, that way you’ll have peace in your heart. Which you’ll realise is the greatest gift. Remember the real work in the relationship starts after the big day, not on the big day.kimberley wedding| South African wedding blogIf you’ve enjoyed this gorgeous Kimberley wedding then you’ll click here for more inspo.A Royalty Kimberley Wedding
