Every time the red carpet is pulled out, you know there’s going to be smashing wedding inspiration. I’ve picked a few red carpet looks that I think are just perfect to be inspired by. But before we get to that, I can’t mention the Emmy’s without acknowledging a historic moment that happened.
Viola Davis!!! Need I say more? Her acceptance speech; my goodness, was so powerful, so empowering and a testament to the fact that all things are possible. If you don’t know what I’m talking about; actress Viola Davis made history this past week by becoming the first black woman to win an Emmy award in the category, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Although I’m not American or an actress I found myself filled with pride and joy. It’s wonderful to see talent being recognized regardless of one’s skin colour. Change is here. Beauty has been redefined and I ‘m excited to be alive in this generation to witness it.
“In my mind, I see a line. And over that line I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me over that line, but I can’t seem to get there no-how. I can’t seem to get over that line.
She continued by saying “Let me tell you something: the only thing that separates women of colour from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there. She also thanked Halle Berry, Kerry Washington, Gabriela Union, Taraji P. Henson and many other black women in Hollywood.
